Graham Blewitt AM, a retired Magistrate and former Deputy Prosecutor of the ICTY, commenced his legal career in 1965 in what is now the Office of the NSW Director of Public Prosecutions, where he was involved in the prosecution of serious criminal cases. During his twenty-one years in the DPP, he spent three years seconded as the Professional Assistant to the Solicitor General. He was also the State’s Legal Adviser to a number of drug task forces and a joint Commonwealth/State prosecution team tasked with bringing to justice members of the “Mr Asia” drug syndicate. In 1985, he was recruited by the National Crime Authority, and in 1987 he joined the Special Investigations Unit (Nazi war criminals in Australia), becoming the Unit’s Director in 1991, a role which he continued in until January 1994, when he became the ICTY’s Deputy Prosecutor.
I am a retired NSW Magistrate and live in Sydney, Australia with my wife. I have three wonderful adult children and four equally remarkable grandchildren. I regard myself as being blessed and have enjoyed an incredible life.
